Beatriz Nogueira e Figueira completed her Master’s of Science in Biology at the University of Waterloo and Bachelor of Science in Zoology at the University of Guelph. She specialized in researching endangered migratory bats, and is eager to become familiar with the flora and fauna found in Niagara. Outside of work, she volunteers with the Ontario Bat Network, enjoys reading and painting, and travelling to see bat species not found in Ontario.
Beatriz started at Land Care Niagara in August 2026 as an Ecology Technician, and will be working on analyzing the acoustic calls of bats to understand the species diversity and habitat use of bats in Niagara. She is also excited to see Niagara’s natural areas while working on various different projects at Land Care Niagara.
