Born and raised in Niagara, Katja became passionate about environmental conservation at a young age through camping and hiking with her family. Katja has a diverse educational background and has earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Brock University, an Environmental Technician diploma and an Ecosystem Restoration Graduate Certificate from Niagara College. In 2021, Katja began volunteering with Land Care Niagara to get involved in conservation projects in her community. By 2022, Katja helped launch the Volunteer Corps, a group of dedicated volunteers with the goal of improving project efficiency and community outreach for the organization.
Katja is thrilled to get more involved within the organization and her community through restoration work. Since starting her role as Stewardship Coordinator in April 2023, Katja has been fully immersed in all of our projects and has gained great experience in managing our Rural Tree Planting Program and Re-leaf Community Nursery. We are so excited to see her continue to thrive in 2024 and look forward to the year ahead!
