It's Snake Sunday! Today we look at the Butler’ It's Snake Sunday!

Today we look at the Butler’s Gartersnake. In Ontario, it’s  classified as Endangered, meaning that while it lives in the wild, it is threatened with extinction. The Butler’s Gartersnake is non-venomous, with a small head and yellow/orange stripes running down its body, and is found in the lower Great Lakes region. It is threatened by habitat loss due to urbanization and development.
Did you know that skunks can spray up to 6x in a r Did you know that skunks can spray up to 6x in a row before their tank is empty? These animals only use this defense as a last resort since it can take up 2 weeks for their glands to refill!

We’ve been so busy this field season that we hav We’ve been so busy this field season that we haven’t had time to update everyone on all the exciting things we have been up to! LCN attended the Mother Earth Day event hosted by the City of Niagara Falls on June 11 and it was a great success! We planted 40 large native trees in Fireman’s Park with the help of volunteers. We also debuted our new pollinator seed balls and they were a massive hit! Purchase your own by visiting our online store today or the Welland Market on August 6!
